Supporters of the cancellation argue that teaching about so-called "anti-Palestinian racism" is not as politically neutral as its advocates suggest. They contend that pro-Palestinian activism and slogans such as "globalize the intifada" have gained influence across Western societies, particularly on university campuses, with encouragement from progressive governments and community leaders.

According to this view, Jewish organizations and pro-Israel advocates have at times succeeded in pushing back against these developments, but supporters of the Palestinian cause continue to frame their efforts through narratives of victimhood, making the debate highly contentious and ongoing.

Critics of the Palestinian movement argue that its origins are tied to opposition to the State of Israel, citing provisions in the Palestinian National Charter and historical figures such as Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Mohammed Amin al-Husseini, who led the Arab Revolt of 1936–1939 and later collaborated with Nazi Germany. They maintain that hostility toward Zionism has deep religious and ideological roots and should not be characterized as racism when challenged.

From this perspective, the fact that a workshop addressing "anti-Palestinian racism" was proposed within the Toronto District School Board raises concerns about the potential inclusion of political messages related to Israel. Opponents believe such programs cannot be separated from broader debates surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Meanwhile, Toronto Palestinian Families, an advocacy network, has criticized the school board's decision and is lobbying for the workshop's reinstatement. The group has called on the TDSB to restore the permit, issue a public apology, and take stronger measures to address what it describes as anti-Palestinian racism in schools.

Those opposed to the workshop argue that schools should maintain universal zero-tolerance policies against racism and harassment affecting all communities. They contend that separate workshops focused specifically on anti-Palestinian racism are unnecessary and risk introducing political advocacy into educational settings.
