Kamran Gill, a Christian medical practitioner in Pakistan’s Punjab province, has reportedly had his pharmacy, clinic and home set on fire following allegations that he shared blasphemous content online. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of religious minorities amid threats of mob violence.

Gill was arrested on October 8 over allegations that he had shared a video containing allegedly blasphemous material on social media. According to reports, the video had previously been posted and was forwarded to him by another Facebook user.

Anti-persecution organisation Voice of the Martyrs reported that activists gathered outside Gill’s clinic and the adjoining family residence the following day. The crowd allegedly broke into the premises, vandalised the property and subsequently set the building on fire in the village of Gharial Kalan, Punjab province.

Following the incident, Gill’s family and other Christian residents of the village were forced to flee their homes amid fears for their safety. The incident highlights the risks faced by religious minorities in Pakistan when accusations of blasphemy trigger public anger and threats of violence.
