French authorities have arrested three men on suspicion of involvement in a jihadist terror plot that allegedly included plans to join the Islamic State (ISIS) in Africa and potentially carry out a violent attack against the Jewish community in France.

The investigation began in early July after security agencies detected extremist activity within a WhatsApp group named “Soldiers of Allah.” Intelligence gathered during the probe led investigators to identify and arrest the three suspects. Authorities believe their primary objective was to travel from France to join ISIS-affiliated groups operating in Africa, while they are also suspected of discussing a possible violent action targeting Jewish civilians.

The case has gained further international significance due to a suspected cross-border link with the United States. French investigators are examining the alleged connection between one of the arrested men and Jessica Bowie, a 35-year-old woman arrested by the FBI in August for allegedly plotting, on behalf of ISIS, to bomb the New York State Capitol.

According to French media outlet RTL, a source close to the investigation confirmed to AFP that one of the suspects brought before a French judge had contact with the woman arrested in the United States. The investigation remains ongoing as French and U.S. authorities continue to examine the extent of the alleged terrorist network and any international links.
