How many Americans are aware of the growing activity of jihadis in the U.S. recently? In New York, Ahmed al Jabali entered a barber shop to have his beard trimmed but ended up stabbing the Jewish barber with the barber’s own scissors, claiming it was his "right as a Muslim to punish Jews." In Kentucky, Mirsad Ramic was convicted of providing material support to ISIS, conspiring to support the organization, and receiving military training. In Georgia, Aliakbar Mohammed Amin threatened to kill both President Trump and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Now, Mohamed Adan Mohamed, a young man from the progressive, multicultural Mankato, Minnesota, appears to have been stopped just in time. A special agent with the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) noted that there were strong indications Mohamed was planning an attack (Mass Casualty Event) within the next 24 hours. Though Mohamed was stopped, what is being done to prevent future jihadist plots like the one he intended to carry out? Unfortunately, nothing at all.
According to Minnesota’s Alpha News, the Blue Earth County Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges against Mohamed Adan Mohamed for allegedly stealing $2,150 worth of firearm magazines and making threatening, anti-American posts on social media. These social media posts were the first signs that this was more than a simple shoplifting incident.
From the start, Mohamed’s behavior was suspicious. He entered a Mankato store wearing a COVID mask, gloves, a green stocking cap, and a heavy winter coat, despite warmer weather. His attire suggested he was either trying to hide something or intended to steal. He proceeded to select high-priced items such as body armor, bear spray, and 9mm firearm magazines without checking prices, making the store staff wary.
While in the store, Mohamed also talked to employees about an AR-style rifle he claimed to own. He then left the store with approximately $2,150 worth of stolen goods. Security officers tried to stop him, but Mohamed fled in a car, nearly running over someone in the process.
In his rush to escape, Mohamed left behind a list he used to select items, which included a “Survival Gear List” featuring items like a sleeping bag, lighters, eight magazines, knives, pepper spray, a “6-mag chest rig,” and bows and arrows. In addition to the survival gear, Mohamed had stolen eight firearm magazines.
