On Saturday, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, a leader of the BJP and former Union minister, called for the Congress party to lose its recognition status. This call came after the Kerala unit of the Congress party compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Muhammad bin Tughluq, the second sultan of the Tughluq dynasty, in an ongoing poster battle.
Naqvi argued that the controversial poster provided a strong reason for the election commission to de-recognize the Congress party and impose a ban on it. Naqvi expressed this view on his official social media account, formerly known as Twitter, stating, "This is a strong case for de-recognition and a ban on Congress @ECISVEEP."

The Congress's Kerala unit had earlier released a poster that superimposed Modi's face on an image of Muhammad bin Tughlaq from history textbooks, making the ruler resemble the prime minister. This poster battle escalated further when the BJP, in a social media post, depicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as 'Ravan,' the multi-headed demon king from the epic 'Ramayana.' Congress leaders quickly criticized this comparison, with party MP Manickam Tagore deeming it 'unfortunate' and demanding an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda.
However, the controversy did not end there, as the official social media account of the Congress party responded with a poster portraying Prime Minister Modi as a puppet of billionaire Gautam Adani. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut alleged that Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were apprehensive about the increasing popularity of Rahul Gandhi.
