Local sources in Kapisa province have reported that the Taliban detained a 35-year-old woman, Niloufar, a victim of gang rape, and imprisoned her. According to these sources, she has been held in Taliban custody for the past eight days in the provincial capital.

Sources also told Afghanistan International that Niloufar was gang-raped in her home in the village of Aruki, Kapisa, on Friday, November 22. The five men involved in the assault are allegedly members of Niloufar's husband’s family, with one identified as “Mayel Agha,” a member of the Taliban in Kapisa.

After the attack, Niloufar screamed for help, which alerted locals who informed the Taliban. The authorities arrested one suspect but four others managed to escape.

Earlier in December, a report from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) cited Taliban officials who stated they were imprisoning women who were victims of violence and lacked a mahram. UNAMA condemned the imprisonment of these women, stating that it deprives them of their freedom under the guise of protection.
