A powerful explosion ripped through parts of a madrassa in South Keraniganj on Friday morning, causing serious injuries to four people, including women and children. The blast created panic in the surrounding area as debris from the damaged structure scattered across the site.

The incident occurred at the Ummul Qura International Madrassa, located in the Hasnabad area of South Keraniganj. According to initial reports, at least two rooms of the madrassa were completely destroyed by the intensity of the explosion, indicating the use of highly volatile materials.

Police officials who reached the spot during the preliminary investigation reported the recovery of cocktails, chemicals, and other materials commonly used in the manufacture of crude bombs. The discovery has raised grave concerns about the activities being carried out inside the premises.

Parveen Begum, the owner of the building housing the madrassa, expressed shock and disbelief upon learning that bomb-making components were found inside the institution. She stated that she was completely unaware of any such activities and emphasized that the madrassa was supposed to function solely as a center for religious education. Urging swift action, she called upon law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and uncover what was actually taking place behind the façade of Shariah instruction.

Authorities have intensified their probe to determine the source of the explosive materials, the intent behind their presence, and whether the incident is linked to a larger network or conspiracy.
