Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) is a campaign launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 to address the issue of the declining child sex ratio (CSR) in India and to promote the education and empowerment of girls.

The BBBP campaign aims to address the deep-rooted societal biases and discrimination against girls in India, which has led to a significant decline in the CSR in certain states in India. The campaign focuses on creating a supportive environment for the survival, protection, and education of girls through a multi-sectoral approach.

One of the main components of the BBBP campaign is the establishment of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" (Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child) cells at the district level. These cells work to create awareness about the importance of girls' education and the need to address societal biases and discrimination against girls. Additionally, the campaign also focuses on providing financial assistance and scholarships to girls from economically weaker sections to help them continue their education.

Another key aspect of the BBBP campaign is the promotion of "Girl-Child Friendly" villages and towns, where efforts are made to create a supportive environment for the survival, protection, and education of girls. This includes measures such as the construction of toilets in schools to ensure the safety and security of girls, as well as providing access to healthcare and nutrition.

The BBBP campaign has also seen the launch of several other initiatives aimed at promoting the education and empowerment of girls. These include the "Sabla" scheme, which provides nutrition and healthcare support to adolescent girls, as well as the "Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls," which provides skill development and livelihood opportunities for girls.
