just a few decades, the BJP has risen from a minor regional party to become a dominant force in Indian politics, winning a series of elections and forming the government at the national level.
The BJP was formed in 1980 as a political arm of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization. In the early years, the party struggled to gain a foothold in national politics, with its support limited to certain regions of the country.
However, the BJP gradually expanded its base, building a strong organizational structure and forging alliances with other political parties. In the 1990s, the party began to make significant gains, winning several state elections and forming governments.
The turning point for the BJP came in 1998, when the party formed a coalition government at the national level, with Atal Bihari Vajpayee serving as Prime Minister. This marked the first time in Indian history that a non-Congress party had formed a government at the national level, and it marked the beginning of the BJP's rise to dominance.
The BJP has continued to grow in strength and influence, winning a series of national elections and forming the government at the national level under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
