A violent late-night attack in Cardiff has resulted in a 10-year prison sentence for Abdul Ali, 20, who was convicted of wounding with intent after stabbing a man multiple times in a parked car on Salisbury Road, Cathays.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on February 25, when the 34-year-old victim entered the back seat of a vehicle where Ali was sitting in the front passenger seat. Moments later, Ali suddenly got out of the car, moved to the rear passenger side, and launched a vicious assault. Without warning, he stabbed the victim in both the neck and stomach, leaving him critically injured.
As the victim stumbled out of the vehicle, another passenger managed to restrain Ali, leading to a brief scuffle among several men. However, the assailant managed to break free and fled the scene on foot. In an attempt to evade capture, Ali ran into a nearby fast-food restaurant and locked himself inside the toilet. Police arrived shortly after and arrested him at the scene.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries. Authorities later confirmed that his condition stabilized following the operation.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Anthony Hurley of South Wales Police emphasized the force’s commitment to tackling violent crime. “Tackling knife crime is a priority for us and our partners,” he said, highlighting the ongoing efforts to curb such dangerous behavior in the community.
The case has once again drawn attention to the growing concerns surrounding knife violence in the UK, with law enforcement agencies urging communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could prevent similar tragedies.
