Body camera footage captures the moment Chicago police detained a passenger carrying a loaded gun on a plane at O’Hare International Airport just minutes before departure.
According to authorities, 53-year-old Besnik Ismajlaj managed to slip a Glock 9mm semiautomatic handgun through security during a TSA shift change last month and boarded the aircraft with the weapon concealed in his carry-on bag.
The recently released bodycam video shows Ismajlaj seated in first class when officers board the plane and escort him off.
Chicago police removed Ismajlaj from the flight on April 15.
When questioned by officers about their presence, he admitted, “Yeah, it’s in my bag,” according to a police report obtained by CBS News.
Once off the plane and handcuffed, Ismajlaj calmly told an officer, “I forgot it,” as shown in the video.
He remained composed and cooperative while officers searched his backpack and discovered the firearm.
Ismajlaj, from St. Charles, Illinois, bypassed detection at Security Checkpoint 2 in Terminal 1 during the TSA shift change on April 15.
TSA officials revealed that an agent saw the gun on the X-ray screen, but Ismajlaj quickly reached in, grabbed his bag, and proceeded to board his flight before it could be confiscated, CBS reported.
