On Friday, 4th July, a tragic incident of communal violence unfolded in Jahazpur, located in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, after a Hindu man was brutally lynched by a mob following a minor accident near a mosque. The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns over rising communal tensions in the region.
According to eyewitness accounts and police reports, the episode began when four friends — Sikandar, Sitaram, Dilkhush, and Deepak — were traveling together in a car. While passing through the Takia Masjid area of Jahazpur, their vehicle accidentally skidded and collided with a vegetable cart loaded with onions and potatoes. The cart belonged to a local vendor identified as Raees Fakir.
The impact caused the cart to topple and the vegetables to scatter across the road. Recognizing the damage, one of the occupants, Sitaram, immediately stepped out of the car. With folded hands, he apologized to the vendor and offered to compensate for the loss. His gesture, however, failed to calm the gathering crowd.
Within moments, what began as a minor road mishap escalated into a horrific act of violence. A group of local Muslim men — reportedly including individuals named Babu Khan, Wasim, Shahrukh, Saddam, Hasnain, Mohsin, Sahil, Islam, Tanveer, Sharif, Hanif, Abid, Idrees, Gulzar, and Murtaza — surrounded Sitaram and began to assault him brutally.
Despite the desperate efforts of his friends to intervene and de-escalate the situation, the mob continued its attack with unrelenting ferocity. Sitaram was beaten so severely that he lost consciousness on the spot. The violence didn’t stop there — the assailants also targeted the car, setting it ablaze and deliberately disabling it by cutting its wires, allegedly to prevent any of the victims from fleeing the scene.
In a frantic attempt to save their friend, Sikandar, Dilkhush, and Deepak managed to place the grievously injured Sitaram on a motorcycle and rushed him to a nearby hospital. Tragically, by the time they arrived, doctors pronounced him dead.
The incident has deeply shaken the local community and prompted calls for justice. Police have launched an investigation and are in the process of identifying and apprehending all those involved in the mob attack. Security in the area has been tightened to prevent further unrest, and authorities have urged both communities to maintain peace and allow the law to take its course.
