A 31-year-old Afghan man, identified as Naceer, has been on trial since Monday, facing charges of attempted murder and rape of his spouse. According to Le Parisien on Wednesday, December 4, Naceer is accused of stabbing his wife, Fakhria, eight times in the chest and thigh on May 7, 2022, in Noisy-le-Sec, Seine-Saint-Denis. The attack reportedly left Fakhria for dead. She claims to have been a victim of domestic violence and was staying at her cousin’s home when the brutal assault occurred. The trial is set to conclude this Friday, December 6.
After fleeing the horrors of the Taliban regime, the couple arrived in France in 2021 alongside Naceer’s uncle. However, their relationship began to deteriorate when Fakhria started wearing pants, short jackets, and attending French language classes. “He wanted her to dress a certain way and remain at home,” explained Naceer’s uncle. Despite his uncle’s advice, Naceer was adamant in his beliefs. “She wants to be European. I don’t want to be,” he reportedly said. The tension escalated to the point where Fakhria attempted suicide, followed by Naceer. Fakhria eventually began speaking out about the domestic violence she endured, though her husband denied the accusations, and no official complaint was ever filed.
On May 7, 2022, the situation reached a tragic climax. Naceer’s uncle received a call from Fakhria’s cousin stating, “Naceer killed Fakhria.” The victim was found covered in blood. Disturbingly, some relatives in Afghanistan praised Naceer for the attack, with one brother urging him to “finish the job” and “kill Fakhria.” According to the uncle, the Afghan diaspora justified the violence by alleging that Fakhria had been unfaithful, claiming this was the motive behind Naceer’s actions.
