Fulani Militant Attacks Leave Over 30 Christians Dead in Nigeria’s Plateau State

More than 30 Christians have been killed in a series of suspected Fulani herdsmen attacks across Plateau State’s Mangu County in Nigeria over the past month, according to local residents and community leaders.

The latest violence occurred on September 5, when three Christians were killed in two predominantly Christian communities. Local resident Leo Lawrence said one victim was murdered in Fungtim, while two others were killed in Kinat, describing the attackers as suspected Fulani militants.

Just two days earlier, on September 3, two more Christians lost their lives in separate attacks on the villages of Kinat and Kop-Naanle. Community leader Tubwot Sunday identified the victims as Bulus Danladi (78) and Kwopnaan Lot Yunana (33), both residents of the targeted Christian communities.

The deadliest incident took place on August 18 in Bin-Per village, where suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly carried out a pre-dawn assault around 3:00 a.m. Area resident Nelson Dogara reported that 25 Christians were killed in the overnight attack, saying the village was “bleeding” following the massacre.

The repeated attacks have intensified fears among Christian communities in Plateau State, with residents calling for stronger security measures and greater protection against recurring violence in the region.
