German Man Alleges Years of Anti-Gay Bullying and Institutional Failure in School
David Brough, founder of the German media outlet Der Volksmut, has alleged that he endured years of bullying, physical assaults, and social isolation during his secondary school education in Wuppertal, Germany, claiming he was targeted because he was German, openly gay, and refused to conform to conservative Islamic norms.
Brough said the abuse began after elementary school and continued throughout his teenage years. According to his account, Muslim classmates regularly beat, insulted, and ostracized him, while he was frequently singled out during physical education classes. He has described the campus as a “Sharia school,” a term he uses to characterize schools where he believes students who do not follow strict Islamic social expectations receive little protection.
Recalling his experience, Brough stated, “They hated me because I am German, because I was already a homosexual boy back then, and because I did not submit to Sharia, to Islamic laws on German soil.” He further said that he was “mistreated, beaten, ostracized, and insulted every day” during his school years.
Brough also claimed that when he sought help from a school guidance counselor and reported repeated homophobic assaults, his concerns were dismissed. According to his account, the counselor told him that the school was “a school of diversity” and that he would have to tolerate different cultural attitudes, adding that homosexuality is considered haram in Islam.
These allegations have not been independently verified. No school records or court documents have been publicly produced to substantiate the claims, and there has been no immediate official response from school authorities in Wuppertal regarding Brough’s allegations.
