German police have arrested a 36-year-old Lebanese national at Berlin Brandenburg Airport in connection with an international Hamas-linked terror network. The suspect was taken into custody after arriving on a flight from Beirut early Friday morning.
According to German outlet Der Spiegel, the individual—identified as Mohammed S.—had been on the wanted list of Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office. The German Federal Prosecutor’s Office has accused him of being an active member of Hamas and part of a group of so-called “foreign operatives” tasked with supporting terrorist activities in Europe.
Prosecutors allege that this network was involved in the procurement of firearms and ammunition intended for use in attacks targeting Jewish and Israeli institutions across multiple European countries. Investigators claim that Mohammed S. personally arranged the acquisition of approximately 300 rounds of ammunition, which authorities believe could have been used in planned terror operations.
Further investigations suggest that the suspect worked in coordination with an individual known as “Abed Al G,” who was among three Hamas operatives arrested in October for plotting attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets. German authorities believe these arrests are part of a broader effort to dismantle Hamas support and logistics networks operating within Europe.
The case highlights growing concerns among European security agencies over foreign-based terror groups attempting to establish operational and supply chains on the continent to carry out coordinated attacks.
