On Friday, two Israelis were stabbed on Ermou Street, an upscale shopping area in central Athens.

One of the attackers, identified as a resident of the Gaza Strip, was arrested, while the other managed to escape, according to Hebrew-language Ynet News.

The Gazan suspect had previously participated in pro-Palestinian demonstrations, as stated by Israel’s Foreign Ministry.

The assault on the Israelis occurred after the assailants overheard them speaking Hebrew, with one of the victims wearing a Star of David necklace.

In 2023, Greek authorities apprehended two Pakistani nationals in Athens on charges of plotting attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets. The two men, aged 27 and 29, were believed to be planning strikes on locations like a kosher restaurant and a synagogue in central Athens, Greek media reported.

The Mossad later confirmed that the detained individuals were linked to a "large Iranian network" operating from Iran and other countries.
