Hate-Motivated Shooting Outside Arizona Gay Bar Leaves Two Dead

A hate-motivated shooting outside a gay bar in Tucson, Arizona, claimed the lives of two men before the gunman took his own life, according to Tucson Police.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Monday in the parking lot of Venture-N, where Cameron Davis Capara (33) and Vincent Anthony Siqueiros (42) were leaving the establishment. Police said the attacker, Ousman Ceesay (44), confronted the two men—who were strangers to him—and fatally shot them with a 9mm handgun before turning the weapon on himself.

Investigators later discovered a handwritten note on Ceesay listing several other LGBTQ-friendly businesses in the area, although authorities said he never attempted to enter the bar. A second note recovered from his residence indicated that he acted alone and that the attack was deliberately motivated by hatred toward the LGBTQIA+ community.

According to local reports, Ceesay had previously worked as an Uber driver and was described by relatives as a practicing Muslim who prayed regularly. Police have emphasized that the investigation points to a lone, hate-driven act and have not suggested any broader connection to the Muslim community.

One of the victims, Cameron Davis Capara, was a well-known photographer recognized for documenting LGBTQ nightlife, university demonstrations, pro-Palestinian rallies over Gaza, and protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
