In a disturbing case from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a well-organized network allegedly involved in orchestrating targeted exploitation of Hindu girls has come to light. The case involves allegations of "Love Jihad"—a term used to describe the practice where Muslim men are accused of luring Hindu women into romantic relationships with the intent to convert them to Islam. This particular case has gained national attention due to the involvement of a prominent political figure.
According to reports, Anwar Qadri, a sitting Congress councillor—also known by the alias Anwar Dakait—has been named as the alleged mastermind behind the operation. Police sources claim that Qadri provided large sums of money to two of his close associates, Sahil Sheikh and Altaf Khan, to entrap Hindu girls. The girls were reportedly first seduced, then sexually exploited, and ultimately coerced into marriage and religious conversion. It is also alleged that the ultimate goal was to push these women into prostitution.
Initial investigations suggest that Sahil and Altaf were paid in advance for this sinister task. Sahil confessed to receiving ₹2 lakh, while Altaf admitted to taking ₹1 lakh. Both men stated that Qadri had promised to pay them the remaining amount upon the completion of their "mission." A video confession of the two accused is now circulating on social media, lending further credibility to the accusations.
In the video, Sahil and Altaf can be seen showing photographs of several Hindu girls on their phones. They admitted to creating fake Hindu identities on social media to deceive and lure their victims. After gaining the girls’ trust online, they would arrange to meet them in person, where the girls were reportedly sexually assaulted. Plans were then made to marry the victims under false pretenses and convert them to Islam. The accused also revealed that the councillor had directed them to eventually force these girls into prostitution, referred to in their statements as "dhandha."
Acting on the confessions, police have registered a case against Councillor Anwar Qadri. However, when law enforcement authorities arrived at his residence to make the arrest, he was found to be absconding. Search operations and raids are ongoing to locate and detain him.
The arrest of Sahil Sheikh and Altaf Khan took place on Friday, June 13, when they were caught red-handed by members of Bajrang Dal—a Hindu activist group. The group intercepted the duo in the Super Corridor area of Indore as they were preparing to meet another Hindu girl. The girl was immediately sent home, while both men were reportedly roughed up by the activists before being handed over to the police.
A Bajrang Dal member revealed that during the confrontation, a threatening chat was discovered open on one of the accused’s mobile phones. In the conversation, Sahil threatened a Hindu boy by claiming he was the girl’s boyfriend and lived in Narwal. He reportedly wrote, “I will make her accept Islam, and you won’t be able to do anything. This is what our religion teaches.”
Further testimony from one of the victims paints a harrowing picture. The girl said Sahil initially professed his love and established a physical relationship under the false promise of marriage. Fearing social stigma, she remained silent. However, when she later discovered the truth, she tried to distance herself. On May 30, Sahil allegedly invited her to a cafe in the Vijay Nagar area and raped her. When she resisted, he attempted to lure her with financial incentives, saying, “Just convert once, and I’ll give you any amount of money you ask for.” The girl further revealed that Sahil tried to force her into wearing a burqa.
Police have confirmed that both Sahil and Altaf are in custody and will remain in judicial remand until Monday, June 16. Interrogations are ongoing, and authorities are intensifying efforts to locate the absconding councillor. The case has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stronger action against religiously motivated grooming and conversion rackets.
