In Uttar Pradesh's Etah district, a case of alleged forced religious conversion involving a married Dalit woman has come to light. The woman was reportedly abducted at knifepoint on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Following the incident, Faizan, the main accused, was arrested on Friday, November 8. Authorities are investigating his role as well as the potential involvement of his family members. Meanwhile, police have reportedly rescued the victim safely.

The incident took place in the Jalesar police station area. On Monday, November 4, the woman’s father lodged a complaint with the police. He stated that his daughter and her younger sister had gone to the fields early Sunday morning when Faizan, a resident of Kiri town in Jalesar, appeared and tried to abduct the elder sister. The younger sister intervened.

As per the complaint, Faizan allegedly strangled the younger sister and threatened her with a knife, declaring, "I will force your sister to accept Islam and convert her." He then brandished a gun and fled the scene with the victim on his bike. The Dalit family has accused Faizan’s brother and parents of being complicit in the crime.
