India: Ex-Muslim YouTuber Brutally Stabbed, Throat Slitting Attempt Leaves Him in Critical Condition

Popular YouTuber Saleem Wastik, who has publicly identified himself as an ex-Muslim and frequently participated in televised debates and panel discussions, is battling for his life after a brutal stabbing at his residence in Ghaziabad. The incident has sparked concern locally and online, given Wastik’s public profile and controversial commentary in recent years.

According to police, the attack took place on Friday morning in Ashok Vihar Colony. Two assailants arrived at the location on a motorcycle that reportedly bore no number plate. Both individuals were wearing helmets, which they did not remove, making identification difficult. They entered the premises where Wastik, around 50 years old and a long-time resident of the area, had established a small office within his home. Once inside, they allegedly launched a sudden and violent assault, stabbing him multiple times in the neck and abdomen.

Eyewitness accounts and preliminary reports from the scene suggest that the attackers also attempted to slit his throat, indicating the severity and apparent intent behind the assault. Family members and nearby residents quickly intervened and rushed him to a nearby 50-bed hospital. However, due to the life-threatening nature of his injuries, doctors referred him to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for advanced treatment. He was transported by ambulance and remains in critical condition under close medical supervision.

Police stated that they received the first alert around 8:00 a.m. through Dial 112, reporting that a man had been stabbed by two unidentified individuals in the Ali Garden area. A formal complaint has since been filed, naming two unknown occupants of the motorcycle as well as several individuals — Ashfaq, Sonu, Shahrukh Neta, Bhati Builder, and a local leader associated with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, identified as Ajgar.

Wastik’s son, Usman, has alleged that these named individuals were involved in orchestrating the attack on his father. He has urged authorities to collect evidence promptly and take swift action to apprehend those responsible.

Saleem Wastik has previously drawn public attention for his outspoken criticism of the Muslim community and certain aspects of Islam following his renunciation of the faith. His social media presence, particularly on YouTube, and his appearances on debate programmes have often generated strong reactions. Police officials have confirmed that the motive behind the attack remains under investigation, and further details will emerge as the inquiry progresses.
