A serious case of alleged workplace misconduct has surfaced at a multinational IT firm in Nashik, Maharashtra, prompting police action and raising concerns about employee safety and corporate accountability.

Undercover Operation Reveals Allegations

The incident came to light after a covert operation conducted by seven women police officers, who reportedly entered the company premises in disguise to verify complaints. During the operation, they are said to have observed instances of sexual harassment involving female employees, along with allegations of religious harassment affecting both women and at least one male employee.

Arrests and Legal Action

Following the operation, authorities detained several individuals connected to the firm. Among those accused are a team leader and a woman HR representative, who were allegedly caught engaging in inappropriate conduct. Police have registered nine cases against six individuals, with seven arrests reported so far.

The victims, aged between 18 and 25, have made serious allegations including sexual harassment, coercion into physical relationships under false promises of marriage, and religious intimidation. One male employee has also alleged that he was subjected to religious insults and pressured into participating in practices against his will.

Pattern of Alleged Abuse

According to police reports, the alleged misconduct had been ongoing for nearly four years, from 2022 to 2026. The prolonged nature of these incidents has raised questions about internal oversight and workplace safeguards within the organization.

Allegations of Management Inaction

Investigators have also highlighted alleged negligence on the part of the company’s senior leadership. Victims reportedly made multiple verbal complaints to the head officer regarding inappropriate behaviour. However, no effective action was taken.

In a statement, police indicated that the lack of response from senior management may have enabled the continuation of the alleged abuse, effectively allowing the situation to persist unchecked.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are currently reviewing footage from approximately 40 CCTV cameras installed within the premises to gather further evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to establish the full scope of the allegations and ensure appropriate legal action.

The case has sparked wider concerns about workplace safety, the effectiveness of internal grievance mechanisms, and the responsibility of organizations to act promptly and decisively when employees report misconduct.
