AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi sharply criticized Pakistan on Thursday for using "jihad" as a pretext to promote terror, urging international sanctions against the country. He commended the Indian Armed Forces for their successful "Operation Sindoor" and called on India to press the UN Security Council to label The Resistance Front (TRF)—the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) offshoot believed to be behind the Pahalgam terror attack—as a terrorist group.

Owaisi shared these views during an all-party meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, where political representatives were briefed on the operation.

“I praised our armed forces and government for executing Operation Sindoor. I also proposed launching an international campaign against TRF, aiming to have the UN Security Council designate it as a terrorist entity and the US label it a foreign terrorist organization,” Owaisi stated.

He also highlighted a speech made by Hafiz Abdur Rauf in February in PoK, where he announced plans for jihad. Owaisi argued that Pakistan’s ongoing terror efforts under the guise of jihad must lead to its placement on the FATF’s grey list, and he called for sanctions against Pakistan and a TRF ban by the UK government.

Praising Operation Sindoor, he emphasized the significance of the strikes on Muridke and Bahawalpur, which are recognized as major terrorist hubs. Owaisi also demanded compensation for the families of civilians killed during Pakistan’s heavy shelling in Poonch.
