During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to France from July 14 to 16, India is anticipated to finalize agreements for the acquisition of 26 naval jets called Rafale M and three additional Scorpene submarines from France. The defense procurement board (DPP) granted approval for these deals on Monday.
The total value of these contracts is estimated to be around Rs 90,000 crore. The agreement includes 26 Rafale M aircraft, comprising 22 single-seater jets and four double-seater trainer versions. Government sources have revealed that the three extra submarines will be part of the Scorpene deal known as Project 75.

The defense ministry is expected to grant clearance for the Rafale aircraft's deployment on Indian Navy's aircraft carriers sometime this week. The Indian Navy has been experiencing a shortage of aircraft and submarines in recent years, thus emphasizing the urgency to fulfill their requirements.
The intended deployment of these planes is on the INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya, which currently operate the MiG-29. The deals are projected to be presented to the defense acquisition council within the next few days, followed by an official announcement in France.
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received an invitation as the chief guest for the Bastille Day Parade in Paris, France, on July 14. Alongside him, a contingent from the Indian military, including troops from the Indian Army's Punjab Regiment, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Air Force, will participate in the parade
