A senior official from Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has been dismissed after photos emerged showing his daughter not wearing the mandatory hijab.
Saeed Eslamzadeh, the public relations director of the ministry's Arts Department, was removed from his post after images from the Yalda Night celebrations circulated.
Fars News Agency also mentioned that Eslamzadeh participated in the opening ceremony of the Ceramic Biennial.
At the event, some attendees, including visual artist Bita Fayazi, who inaugurated the ceremony, were seen without the compulsory hijab.
The controversy has also affected Nadereh Rezaei, the minister’s deputy for arts, who appointed Eslamzadeh. Fars News Agency reported that many experts believe her background is inadequate for such a sensitive role.
