Islamic State Supporters Shared Wildfire Arson Guide on Extremist Forum: Report

A British media investigation by LBC has uncovered an online forum used by supporters of the Islamic State (ISIS) where extremist content includes a document encouraging the deliberate use of wildfires as a method of disruption. The discovery comes only weeks after millions of people across the UK received emergency alerts warning of heightened wildfire risks during extreme weather conditions.

According to the report, the forum contains discussions in both Arabic and English, along with Islamic State propaganda and conversations among individuals who support the terrorist organisation. LBC has withheld the platform’s name to avoid drawing attention to material that could promote extremist activity.

Among the documents identified was a guide that encourages supporters to intentionally ignite forest fires during periods when environmental conditions make wildfires more destructive and emergency services are already under significant strain. The publication says the material is designed to inspire acts of sabotage rather than simply spread propaganda.

LBC also reported that the guide includes extensive advice aimed at helping perpetrators conceal their identity and hinder law enforcement investigations. To prevent the dissemination of harmful information, the broadcaster has deliberately omitted the operational sections of the document and has not published its practical instructions.
