Three Moroccan nationals, aged 21, 22, and 24, have been taken into custody and formally charged with the brutal gang rape of two young Hungarian tourists near the Sicilian city of Catania, according to judicial and police sources on Friday.
Investigations revealed that the two women, who were on holiday in the region, had accepted what seemed like a friendly offer of a ride back to their bed and breakfast from two of the men. Instead of driving them safely to their accommodation, the suspects allegedly diverted to a remote and isolated area, where a third accomplice soon joined them.
It is further alleged that this third individual coerced the women into consuming cocaine, heightening their vulnerability. Once under duress, all three men reportedly subjected the victims to sexual violence, forcing them into degrading acts against their will.
The ordeal ended when the terrified and visibly distressed tourists were discovered crying on a bench, while the three accused remained nearby beside their van, leading to their immediate identification and arrest by authorities.
