The director of a Jewish museum in Italy voiced his objection on Wednesday to a book event celebrating the October 7 Hamas massacres, held at a state-funded university.
Davide Romano, the director of the Jewish Brigade Museum in Milan, issued a statement condemning the presentation of La rivoluzione palestinese del 7 ottobre ("The Palestinian Revolution of Oct. 7") at the University of Milan, known as La Statale.
Romano referenced the November 7 attacks on Israelis in Amsterdam, stating, "If we continue like this, Amsterdam is around the corner."
The university clarified on Wednesday that it had not authorized the book event but did not specify any action it would take.
The controversial book includes passages like, "The guerrillas of Gaza on hang gliders have become gusts of wind and cries that have subverted time... an immortal picture of joy that no Palestinian, no woman, no man enslaved by liberal totalitarianism, will ever remove from their recollection."
Romano criticized the university for allowing praise of Palestinian terrorism while silencing discussions about Israel, pointing out that the school had canceled a May 7 event that was set to feature a debate on the Jewish state under pressure from anti-Israel activists.
