According to a new report by researchers at George Washington University, Iranian operatives in the U.S. are financing and promoting hate on college campuses and spreading propaganda throughout the country. They have even gained access to American elected officials.

One of the report's concerning images shows Vice President Kamala Harris interacting with Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi, who is central to the regime's influence campaign. Elahi, an Iranian-born cleric who once led the political-ideological office of the Iranian Navy in the 1980s, has longstanding ties to Iran and has expressed support for Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and Hezbollah, even claiming he would sacrifice his life for their cause.

Harris met with Elahi during a vaccination event at Detroit’s TCF Center (now Huntington Place) in July 2021. Plans for her to visit his Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn, Michigan, were canceled at the last minute due to flooding, as noted on the nonprofit's website.

The Islamic House of Wisdom praised Elahi’s presence at the event alongside Harris, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and other political leaders. They highlighted Elahi’s congratulatory remarks to Harris on the administration’s efforts to combat COVID-19 and expand vaccinations. Harris, in turn, thanked Elahi and his organization for preparing to host her.

This interaction highlights how far-reaching Iran’s influence in the U.S. has become, as detailed in the explosive report from George Washington University’s Program on Extremism. The report also pointed to the radical Alavi Foundation, a New York-based group once accused of secretly acting as a front for the Iranian government. According to tax records reviewed by The Post, the foundation has funneled nearly $500,000 to Elahi’s organization since 2000 and almost $1.9 million to U.S. universities, including Columbia.
