In a disturbing revelation, a leaked audio recording allegedly featuring Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar has surfaced, sending shockwaves across the region. According to a report by CNN-News18, the clip—believed to have been played inside a Jaish-controlled mosque in Bahawalpur, Pakistan—captures Azhar’s chilling claims about the strength and mission of his terror outfit.
In the audio, Azhar is heard delivering a fiery address where he exalts the role of fidayeens (suicide attackers) in his jihadist agenda. “Others may have everything, but we have fidayeens,” he declares. He further boasts that the money given to “Mujahid” will be used solely for jihad. With chilling confidence, he claims, “Pakistan needs the blessings of Mujahideen just as much as it values the support of major religious leaders. No missile or force can stop our fidayeens. We have a cadre of 30,000, and out of them, 10,000 are ready to sacrifice their lives for jihad.”
This brazen proclamation by Azhar not only reaffirms JeM’s deep-rooted terror infrastructure but also raises serious questions about Pakistan’s repeated denial of harboring terrorists. Despite mounting evidence of Azhar's presence and activities within Pakistani territory, top officials in Islamabad continue to feign ignorance.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, a prominent leader of Pakistan’s ruling coalition, previously claimed that Pakistan is unaware of Masood Azhar's whereabouts. He even suggested that Islamabad would be willing to arrest Azhar if India provided actionable intelligence. This statement, now more than ever, rings hollow in light of the recent audio revelation.
Masood Azhar is a name synonymous with some of the deadliest terror attacks on Indian soil. He is believed to be the mastermind behind the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai carnage, the 2016 Pathankot airbase infiltration, and the horrific Pulwama attack in 2019, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. His terror activities led the United Nations to officially designate him as a global terrorist in 2019—a move backed by several major world powers.
The newly surfaced audio exposes the duplicity of Pakistan’s claims on counter-terrorism and underscores the urgent need for the international community to hold Islamabad accountable for sheltering and enabling terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed.
