A 57-year-old Michigan resident, Justin Tye of Warren, has refused to withdraw his criticism of the changes he says have taken place in his town and neighborhood as the Muslim immigrant population has grown over the past decade.

Tye said Warren is his longtime home and emphasized that he was born and raised in the city and the state. His comments came after he spoke publicly about what he described as significant changes to his neighborhood and the growing presence of Muslim immigrants.

Following an earlier media report about his views, Tye’s personal address was reportedly shared online, exposing him to harassment. He said he received hostile messages and hate mail, including a package addressed to him with the words “Bigot at Large.”

Despite the backlash, Tye said he has no intention of remaining silent. He argued that people who move to the United States should respect residents who have lived in the community for decades. He also pointed to longtime neighbors and friends who, like him, have deep family connections to the area.

Tye said that many residents have privately expressed support for his decision to speak publicly. According to him, some neighbors have described his comments as finally giving them a voice on issues they had previously been reluctant to discuss openly.

While defending his position, Tye stressed his belief that newcomers should respect the established community and the people who have lived there for generations. His remarks have drawn both criticism and support, highlighting wider debates in parts of the United States over immigration, demographic change, integration and relations between established residents and newer communities.
