Prime Minister Modi has emphasized the importance of promoting Indian-made products and has launched several initiatives to encourage domestic manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports. These initiatives include the "Make in India" campaign, which aims to attract foreign investment and promote indigenous manufacturing across various sectors.
The "Make in India" campaign was launched in September 2014 with the goal of transforming India into a global manufacturing hub. It focuses on 25 sectors, including automobiles, textiles, chemicals, electronics, and defense manufacturing. The campaign aims to facilitate investment, foster innovation, enhance skill development, and simplify business regulations to promote manufacturing within the country.

Under the "Make in India" initiative, the government has taken steps to improve the ease of doing business in India, such as streamlining bureaucratic processes, introducing tax reforms, and establishing special economic zones. The campaign has also encouraged foreign companies to set up manufacturing facilities in India by offering incentives and ensuring a conducive business environment.
Additionally, the government has launched other initiatives to boost domestic manufacturing, such as the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India) campaign. This campaign, introduced in May 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to make India self-reliant across various sectors by focusing on indigenous production and reducing reliance on imports.
These initiatives aim to promote Indian-made products and foster a culture of self-reliance in India. The idea is to develop a robust manufacturing ecosystem within the country, create job opportunities, and boost economic growth.
