Most wanted terrorist Muslim engineer of India is apprehended by Delhi police

In a significant development, the Delhi Police Special Cell successfully captured Shahnawaz, also known as Shafi Uzzama, who was the most sought-after terrorist by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Shafi Uzzama, who had a bounty of ₹3 lakhs on his head, was wanted in connection with the Pune ISIS case.


The 32-year-old engineer residing in Delhi managed to escape from the custody of Pune police, leading to an extensive manhunt spanning multiple states. In connection with the case, Delhi Police Special Cell officials have also apprehended two other individuals, but their identities have not been disclosed yet.

Authorities stated that this group was planning terrorist activities in North India and receiving instructions from overseas handlers. The police discovered incriminating materials, including items suspected to be used in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).


Shafi Uzzama's arrest is part of the NIA's continuous efforts to capture individuals associated with the Pune ISIS module case. Earlier, the NIA had released pictures of four terrorism suspects wanted in connection with the case and offered a ₹3 lakh reward for credible information leading to their capture.


Shafi Uzzama, along with Talha Liyakat Khan, Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, and Abdulla Faiyaz Shaikh, also known as Daiperwala, had been the subjects of an extensive nationwide manhunt.
