Police at Berlin Brandenburg Airport detained a 36-year-old Lebanese national with alleged links to Hamas after he arrived on a flight from Beirut early Friday morning. The arrest took place immediately upon landing, following intelligence alerts issued by German security agencies.

The suspect, identified by Der Spiegel as Mohammed S., had reportedly been on the wanted list of Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). According to the report, he was under long-term surveillance for his suspected involvement in terror-related activities connected to the Hamas network operating in Europe.

Germany’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office has accused Mohammed S. of being an active member of the terrorist organization and part of a group of so-called “foreign operatives.” This network is believed to have been tasked with sourcing weapons and ammunition intended for use in planned attacks against Jewish and Israeli institutions across multiple European countries. Investigators allege that the suspect played a direct logistical role in these preparations.

Authorities further claim that Mohammed S. was responsible for procuring roughly 300 rounds of ammunition, which were allegedly earmarked for potential terror attacks. His arrest is being viewed as part of a broader crackdown on Hamas-linked cells operating within Europe.

In addition, German prosecutors allege that he worked in coordination with an individual identified as “Abed Al G,” one of the three Hamas operatives arrested in October in connection with foiled plots targeting Jewish and Israeli sites. Investigators believe these arrests are interconnected and reflect a wider, coordinated effort by Hamas to establish operational capabilities on European soil.
