LACEY, Wash. – A Lacey couple has been charged with attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, and assault after allegedly trying to kill their teenage daughter in what she described as a possible honor killing.

According to prosecutors, the Timberline High School student was attacked by her parents outside the school after attempting to escape from her family.

During the incident, the girl's boyfriend intervened to help her and was also assaulted, sustaining injuries. His father, Victor Barnes, stated that the attack took place near a school bus stop while the girl was seeking a ride to a shelter for safety.

Disturbing cell phone footage captured by a witness shows the father choking his daughter under a tree as other students tried to intervene. Lacey Police confirmed they have the video and are investigating.

“There’s the dad, and there’s the daughter underneath him,” Barnes said, referring to the video now in police possession.

Barnes explained that the footage shows Ihsan Ali choking his daughter from behind, forcing her face into the dirt.

“That’s my son fighting to save her life,” Barnes added, pointing to a segment of the video where his son is seen pulling at Ihsan to free the girl.

Court documents reveal that the teen had previously reported abuse by both her father, Ihsan Ali, and her mother, Zahraa Subhi Mohsin Ali. She also informed investigators that her parents had threatened to kill her and planned to forcibly send her to Iraq to marry an older man.
