The Borno State Police Command has provided chilling details surrounding the tragic suicide bombing that occurred on Friday in Konduga Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of at least 24 people and leaving many others injured.

In an official statement released on Saturday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nahun Daso, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed that the attack was carried out by a female suicide bomber. According to the police, the assailant targeted a crowded food joint where numerous residents had gathered to buy meals.

The attacker reportedly detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) hidden on her body, triggering a devastating explosion that instantly claimed dozens of lives and caused widespread injuries among the unsuspecting crowd. The blast was so powerful that the body of the suicide bomber was torn apart, with only her head being recovered from the wreckage.

Authorities are continuing investigations to determine if the attack was part of a coordinated assault and to identify any individuals or groups that may have supported the bomber. The incident has once again highlighted the persistent threat of terrorism in the region, particularly from extremist elements operating in northeastern Nigeria.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as they work to enhance security and prevent further tragedies.
