An Ahmadi man, Ameer Hassan Mardani, was tragically killed in a targeted attack by unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle. The incident occurred in the Fazl Bhambro area under the jurisdiction of the Naukot police station in District Mirpurkhas.
According to details shared by the Ahmadiyya community spokesperson, Mardani was returning home with his son after morning prayers when the attackers approached him near his residence. They reportedly asked his name, and upon confirming his identity, opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Mardani sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the chest and died instantly.
In his 40s, Mardani leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife, three daughters, and two sons. His eldest daughter is 14 years old, while his youngest child is just eight months old.
Amir Mehmood, the spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Jamaat, expressed profound sorrow over the brutal killing. "Community members described him as kind-hearted, with no known enmity against anyone," he stated. "He served as a local official of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat in Mirpurkhas and had faced serious religious opposition due to his faith."
Mehmood further lamented that this attack highlights a resurgence in violence against Ahmadis.
Just last week, a similar tragedy unfolded in Rawalpindi, where an Ahmadi man, Tayyab Ahmad, was killed by a religious fanatic wielding an axe. Tayyab, a resident of Rajanpur, had been visiting his brother in the Dhamial Camp area when the attack occurred.
The assailant had previously issued warnings for Ahmadis, derogatorily referred to as "Qadianis," to leave the area. Tayyab was at his brother Tahir’s shop at the time, which had been a target of prior harassment, including rock-throwing and threats. Due to the ongoing threats, Tahir had recently relocated his family for safety.
Tayyab succumbed to his injuries on the spot, leaving the community grappling with yet another act of religiously motivated violence.
