A married woman was brutally killed at her father’s residence in Rawalpindi on Friday in what police have termed an “honour killing,” allegedly planned and directed by her husband and uncle while they were abroad in Qatar.
The victim, Samira Aziz, had been living in Qatar with her husband, Suleman. About a week before the killing, she was brought back to Pakistan by two of her uncles, a move that her sister later claimed was based on a false pretext. On the night of the incident, several relatives reportedly arrived at the family home in the Lalazar area of Wah Cantt. According to investigators, the attack was carried out after explicit instructions were conveyed through phone and video calls from Qatar.
As detailed in the first information report (FIR) registered by Sub-Inspector Asif Iqbal Khan, two men identified as Waleed and Asrar—both close relatives of Samira’s father—gained entry to the house after her aunt was instructed over the phone to open the door. The FIR further states that Samira’s husband then connected via video call and ordered the aunt to remove Samira’s sister from the room, allegedly saying she should be left alone so they could “finish Samira off.”
Following these instructions, the two accused men allegedly pulled out pistols and fired multiple shots at Samira, striking her in several parts of the body. She died on the spot due to the severity of her injuries.
Police have cited suspicion as the motive behind the killing. According to the report, Samira’s husband allegedly doubted her character after claiming to have seen her speaking on the phone with another man while she was in Qatar. Investigators say this suspicion ultimately led to the carefully coordinated murder, carried out with family members acting on directions from abroad.
