On Thursday, during the opening day of the Monsoon Session in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi approached Sonia Gandhi and inquired about her well-being. This exchange occurred amidst the ongoing issue of the Manipur situation. Sonia Gandhi assured him that she was fine. Meanwhile, the Opposition intensified its criticism of the BJP government, particularly after a disturbing video of two Kuki women being paraded naked went viral.
The Monsoon Session is significant as it provides the united opposition with the first opportunity to assess the strength of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA). The opposition demanded that PM Modi break his silence on the Manipur violence issue. Responding to this, PM Modi addressed the viral video of the two Kuki women, assuring action and condemning the incident. He also took the chance to mention recent incidents of crime against women in Rajasthan and other Congress-ruled states. The Congress criticized his speech, deeming it belated and inadequate, accusing it of being filled with jibes aimed at them.

Before the session began, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized PM Modi for not visiting Manipur despite having time to attend the NDA's meeting. He stated that India would not forget his silence on the matter. Despite the political confrontations triggered by the formation of INDIA and the Manipur video, PM Modi's courteous approach towards Sonia Gandhi remained unaffected.
Earlier, a photograph of Sonia Gandhi with an oxygen mask inside an aircraft was shared by Rahul Gandhi. The picture was taken during an emergency landing at Bhopal airport after attending a meeting of the united opposition in Bengaluru. Rahul Gandhi praised his mother's composure under pressure, referring to her as the epitome of grace.
