PM Modi extends an invitation to Google, urging their participation in the AI summit

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a virtual discussion with Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet Inc, extending an invitation for Google's involvement in the forthcoming Global Partnership on AI Summit scheduled for December in New Delhi, India. The Prime Minister's Office released a statement highlighting various key points from the conversation.

Among these, the Prime Minister and Mr. Pichai conversed about Google's intentions to foster the growth of the electronics manufacturing industry in India, particularly commending the collaboration between Google and HP in the production of Chromebooks within the country. The Prime Minister also acknowledged Google's initiative to accommodate 100 languages and encouraged the integration of AI tools in Indian languages, urging the company to focus on developing AI tools for effective governance.


Additionally, the Prime Minister welcomed Google's proposal to establish its global fintech operations center at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar. Mr. Pichai briefed the Prime Minister on Google's strategies to promote financial inclusion in India through the utilization of GPay and UPI, emphasizing the company's commitment to contributing to India's development trajectory. The statement concluded by reaffirming the Prime Minister's call for Google's participation in the upcoming Global Partnership on AI Summit in December 2023.
