PM Modi guarantees the Lok Sabha that tranquility will be reestablished in Manipur

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his assurance to the citizens of Manipur that both India and the Parliament stood in solidarity with them. He emphasized that the State and Central governments were diligently working to reinstate peace and progress in Manipur. This affirmation came as his government successfully overcame a vote of no-confidence, even though the Opposition had walked out during the proceedings.

The Opposition's decision to leave was based on their dissatisfaction with Mr. Modi's failure to address the Manipur issue even after speaking for 90 minutes out of his two-hour speech. Following the Opposition's departure, the Prime Minister turned his attention to the situation in Manipur. He expressed his sorrow over the violence in the state and firmly stated that crimes against women were unacceptable.

Both the Central and State governments were cooperating to ensure that those responsible would be appropriately penalized. He directly addressed the women of Manipur, assuring them that the entire country and the Parliament stood in support. He pledged that peace and development would soon be reinstated in the State.

While discussing efforts to heal the wounds in Manipur, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged that numerous problems plaguing the State were not recent in origin. Instead, he attributed them to lingering issues inherited from the previous Congress administrations that had governed the State.
