Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of the 9th International Yoga Day, hosted a significant event at the United Nations headquarters in New York. This event achieved a Guinness World Record for having the highest number of nationalities participating in a yoga session. PM Modi, who was invited by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden and arrived in the US the previous night, led this historic gathering. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Csaba Korisi, the President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Amina Mohammed, the deputy Secretary-General, and Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City.

Many UN officials, diplomats, and notable personalities were also present. PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the attendees while sporting a customized white yoga T-shirt and trousers. Additionally, an earlier Yoga Day event held in Surat, Gujarat, achieved a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering in one place, with 153,000 participants.
