On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi boarded a flight to Indonesia to participate in the ASEAN-India Summit and the East Asia Summit. Prior to his departure, the Prime Minister expressed his anticipation for engaging in discussions with fellow leaders about collaborative approaches to tackling global challenges. He emphasized the significance of India's association with the ASEAN group, which plays a vital role in India's 'Act East Policy.' The visit to Jakarta was extended as an invitation from Indonesian President, Joko Widodo.
"My first commitment will be at the 20th ASEAN-India Summit. I eagerly await conversations with ASEAN leaders regarding the future direction of our partnership, which has now spanned four decades. Our engagement with ASEAN is a crucial component of India's 'Act East' policy, and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established last year has revitalized our relationship," stated the Prime Minister.

"Following that, I will be participating in the 18th East Asia Summit. This platform offers a valuable opportunity to deliberate on regional concerns such as food and energy security, environmental issues, healthcare, and digital transformation. I look forward to exchanging ideas with fellow EAS leaders on practical cooperation strategies to collectively address these global challenges," he further added.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to return to New Delhi on Thursday evening, in preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled for September 9 and 10.
