PM Narendra Modi voices distress and frustration regarding the Manipur incident

On the 20th of July, Prime Minister Modi delivered a brief address before the commencement of the monsoon session of Parliament. During his speech, he emphasized the significance of this sacred month of 'Shravan' when the Parliament comes together to fulfill its democratic responsibilities. He called upon all members of Parliament to actively engage in discussions and debates, addressing crucial matters that would benefit the people.

Towards the end of his 8-minute speech, Prime Minister Modi addressed a distressing incident captured in a viral video from Manipur. The video showed a group of women being stripped naked, paraded, and allegedly gang-raped by an armed mob. Expressing his pain and anger, PM Modi condemned the incident as a disgrace to any civil society. He stressed that this horrifying act had deeply shamed and pained every Indian, and it was the collective responsibility of the entire nation to respond.


PM Modi appealed to all Chief Ministers across Indian states to take immediate action and strengthen the law and order situation in their respective areas, particularly concerning the safety of women. He emphasized that the issue of women's safety should not be subjected to political considerations, and it is paramount to protect women's rights and dignity regardless of the location of such incidents. Assuring the citizens, PM Modi pledged that no criminal involved in such heinous acts would escape justice, and the law would be enforced rigorously to bring the perpetrators to account.
