In several cities across India, Muslim mobs launched targeted assaults on Hindus who were celebrating India's victory in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday, March 9. Reports from Gujarat reveal that a Muslim mob began attacking Hindus during a victory procession by throwing stones and vandalizing vehicles. Three Hindu youths sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Gandhinagar Hospital. Several suspects have been arrested, and the local police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against them.
Another celebratory rally in Mhow on March 10 was violently disrupted by Muslims, who followed their usual pattern of stone-throwing, vandalism, and arson, causing widespread chaos. Several vehicles and Hindu-owned shops were torched, and many victims were injured.
The pattern of enraged Muslims attacking Hindus celebrating India's sports victories is not new. Such incidents have occurred repeatedly in the past, with their frequency increasing each year. Unfortunately, little is being done by the administration and judiciary to stop these assaults.
Throughout history, Hindu temples have been desecrated by tyrants, and this trend continues to the present day. On Friday, March 7, Sheikh Indu vandalized and set fire to an idol of Goddess Sheetla in Baruipur City, West Bengal. Images of the charred idols and damaged temple quickly spread on social media. The local residents apprehended Sheikh Indu and handed him over to the police.
In protest against the desecration, Hindus organized a demonstration outside the Baruipur police station. However, Bibhas Sardar, an MLA from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, attempted to deflect blame onto the Hindu community, diverting attention from Sheikh Indu’s actions. This incident highlights that not only random perpetrators but also pro-Muslim governments can pose a danger to the innocent non-Muslim majority.
On the same day (March 7), it came as no surprise when local police took to X (formerly Twitter) to declare Sheikh Indu mentally unstable. The police stated, “Residents apprehended the accused, and he has been taken into custody. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. The detained individual is an ‘outsider’ and is suffering from mental health issues.”
Numerous instances in both Bangladesh and India show Muslims tearing down Hindu temples, often provoking violent riots, only for the perpetrators to be labeled as “mentally unstable” by the authorities. What’s notable is that these “mentally unstable” individuals never target mosques with their supposed instability but always find their way into Hindu temples.
In Murshidabad district, West Bengal, on the night of March 9, Muslim groups attacked Hindus in the Nawda area. The conflict began as a minor altercation at Patikabari Bazaar but rapidly escalated as armed Muslims joined the violence, turning it into a major law and order issue.
Reports indicate that the attackers targeted Hindu-owned businesses and shops, vandalizing, looting, and setting some of them on fire. A local witness claimed the attackers appeared to be well-prepared, suggesting the violence might have been planned in advance. Some Hindu youths reportedly tried to resist, but the situation remains tense, with authorities closely monitoring the area to prevent further unrest.
