An article was published on the page of Wall Street Journal about India that the country tries to police religious conversions. Meaning is that India tries to govern the religious conversions that are happening in India but here the writer made a clear point towards India’s governing party BJP. Well India is a democratic country and here the Indian law is based with many rules and regulations. Indian citizens are free to make their own decision because we have “Right to freedom of religion”.
But sometimes the rights have been misused in the wrong hands. But the allegations which have been given to the Indian government or the Indian system are completely unacceptable. Every country holds some different kind of laws or actions against those but it does not mean that one can give wrong allegations to a country. Yes it is correct that a person willing to change his/her religion has to take prior permission from the Magistrate. But this rule is made because there are certain reasons behind it.

Well if a person changes his/her religion without taking permission then it will create much confusion or rather conflict in his own society. The law has been created for the sake of its own people and there is zero intention behind the Indian government, especially the party which is currently ruling the nation. Further, it has to be mentioned that although if anyone wants to convert then he/she must take permission but it is also true that forceful conversion in India is also rising and it is rising only by one religion.
But I guess Mr. Varadarajan (who has written this article) forgot to highlight this important point. Not only that India has witnessed religious conversions but also there are many cases of caste conversions in India. But if a person changes his/her religion without permission then the chances of getting involved in a dispute increases. Well conversion can sometimes forcefully which resulted in dispute and it can also lead to mass kill. But the Indian government is taking strict measures to control all these conversions which are not legal.
But giving wrong allegations to a leader or to a party is illogical and the writer is making a clear point on a particular party. However the Indian government which is currently running the nation is making the country proud but because of some wrong allegations from the people outside the country, we are lacking behind. Wall Street Journal is a Foreign based media but they are blaming the Indian government too directly. I guess they have not done proper research and thus they have written way too much against India. It is not acceptable when a person blames your own nation, that’s why it is a rebuttal article or you can say it is a response.
