Seven people, including locals, non-locals, and a doctor working at a key infrastructure construction site, were killed, and several others were injured in a terrorist attack at Gagangir, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday evening (Oct 20). This incident occurred just days after an elected government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, took office in the Union Territory. Some of the victims were reportedly migrant workers.

The shooting took place near the Z-mode tunnel campsite in the Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district.

Local police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel quickly responded, securing the area.

According to media reports, the terrorist group The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), is responsible for the attack.
