According to an official, this is the first school redevelopment project of its kind aimed at inspiring students to become agents of change. The school in Vadnagar, Gujarat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his early education, is undergoing transformation into 'Prerna (inspirational): The Vernacular School.'
Over the next year, two students from each district in the country will have the opportunity to spend time there as part of a week-long study tour. The primary objective of this initiative, as stated by officials familiar with the matter, is to inspire individuals across all 740 districts in India, starting from Vadnagar where it all began. The school, established in 1888 and functional until 2018, is expected to accommodate around 30 students per batch.

It aims to be a school of the future, emphasizing education and values through an experiential learning approach. The selection criteria for students has yet to be determined. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is restoring the school as part of the redevelopment project in Vadnagar.
In addition, a documentary highlighting excavations in Vadnagar, including its earliest defense structures, sustainable water management practices, the shell bangle manufacturing industry, and external trade links, will be released on Wednesday via the OTT platforms Prime Video and the Discovery Channel. The Gujarat government is also working on the development of an Archaeological Experimental Museum in Vadnagar.
