Surveillance Footage Shows 15-Year-Old Girl Escaping Alleged Kidnapper After Brutal Stabbing in Baltimore

Recently released surveillance footage has captured the terrifying moment a 15-year-old girl escaped from an alleged kidnapper after being repeatedly stabbed in Baltimore, Maryland. The case has also raised questions about immigration enforcement after authorities revealed that the suspect had entered the United States illegally in 2023 and had previously been arrested in New York.
According to reports by Fox45, the footage shows the unidentified teenager fleeing from a basement property without shoes or clothing. The residence was reportedly being rented out by 23-year-old Abubakarr Barrie, an unlicensed cab driver originally from Sierra Leone.
The Department of Homeland Security stated that Barrie entered the United States illegally in 2023 and was subsequently released into the country by the Biden administration following an arrest by Border Patrol. Federal authorities have described the alleged assault as a heinous crime.
According to investigators, the incident took place on October 22. The teenager reportedly told authorities that Barrie became violent after she informed him that he was driving in the wrong direction while she was directing him towards a takeaway restaurant. He allegedly placed her in a headlock before taking her to the property where he was renting a room.
Court documents state that Barrie pushed the girl down a narrow set of steps leading into the basement and took her into a small room. He allegedly instructed her to put down her phone and remain silent. The situation subsequently escalated into a violent assault in which the teenager was stabbed multiple times across her body.
Police officers later discovered the injured girl approximately a mile from the property. Her escape and subsequent discovery brought the alleged kidnapping and assault to the attention of investigators.
The case has attracted further attention because Barrie had reportedly been arrested by the New York Police Department several months before the incident for possession of a forged instrument. Reports indicate that New York authorities declined to honour an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer following that arrest.
The investigation has renewed discussions surrounding immigration enforcement, coordination between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities, and public safety. However, the allegations against Barrie remain subject to judicial proceedings, and the claims surrounding his previous arrests and immigration history should be assessed through official records.
