Switzerland: 'Migrant youths' cause chaos in a small town, including reportedly defecating beneath a statue of the Holy Virgin

A small Swiss town has been facing turmoil due to a group of unaccompanied minors who have been wreaking havoc since July. The authorities are struggling to manage the chaos, as the group consists of only three or four children, and their young age limits the actions that can be taken against them.
According to Swiss newspaper Le Quotidien, the minors are "sowing terror" in the village of Soyhières, located in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, which has a population of 433. Their list of misdeeds is described as "long as two arms," including stealing purses, shooting farmers' chickens with BB guns, setting fire to a sheep shed using stolen church candles, and vandalizing graveyards by knocking over tombstones.
The town's church has also reported significant damage by the gang, including defiling a statue of the Virgin Mary. François Goudron, president of the Soyhières parish, revealed, “They even defecated under a statue of the Holy Virgin.”
The group is also accused of urinating under a church pew, blackening a tablecloth beneath the altar, stealing and breaking candles, and burning religious photos. Goudron has filed an official complaint, but the children cannot be prosecuted due to their age.
Even more troubling is that the group, often seen wearing hoods, has been spotted at night carrying knives and a small axe. Le Quotidien reports that the children, who arrived in Soyhières from German-speaking Switzerland this summer, are from the same home.
The Child and Adult Protection Authority and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are investigating, but the mayor, Christian Zuber, has asked residents to stay calm while expressing his frustration. “The police have intervened about eight times, but the problems persist,” Zuber said during a recent municipal council meeting. In one incident, he personally confronted a child who had urinated in the public square and forced him to clean it up with a scrub brush.
